Combat Warrior E-Magazine
The January 2008 edition of Combat Warrior E-Magazine features Grand Master Dr. Ibraham Ahmed, an 8th degree black belt, certified by the Korea Tae Kwon Do Han Moo Kwan Association and World Tae Kwon Do Federation. Dr Ahmed is one of the highest ranked black belts in the world of Tae Kwon Do. His credentials and reputation are world renowned.
Dr Ahmed has more than 41 years of experience in teaching, studying and researching Tae Kwon Do. He is an International Master, Instructor, Coach and Certified Referee. He placed in the Korea National Championships between the years of 1968 and 1970. He was also a U.S. Army Military Police and instructor in Korea and trained with such notables as Grand Master Kim Young Soo, Sang Sop Kil, and the Great Grand Master Kyo Yoon Lee of Han Moo Kwan. Master Quoc L. Tran is a talented, Vietnamese martial artist who has been involved in the martial arts since he was very young in which he has studied, trained, taught and researched. Master Tran currently holds high black belt rank in several martial arts styles and systems. He is the founder and chief instructor of Tran's Combat Martial Arts, founder of Vietnamese Combat Martial Arts / Wushu (Tinh Vo Dao/ Vietnamese Combat Natural Boxing, Lu Tran Kung Fu, Tranjitsu, Street Rapid Defense System). He is the founder and president of five martial arts organizations. He was awarded a Doctorate and Professorship in Philosophy of Martial Arts. Master Tran has been inducted into over 30 martial arts Hall of Fames and recipient of numerous martial arts awards.
Mr. Gurjot K. Singh, M Ed., MSIR is a retired US Army Ranger, Drill Instructor and S.E.R.E. (Survival, Evasion, Resistance and Escape) Instructor who completed his Post-Graduate work in Instructional Design for the US Army Civil Service Corps. He is published in professional and academic journals produced by the US Army (2000) and Yale University (1999). He has studied various disciplines in the martial arts since 1971. Most of his martial arts skill development in Grappling, Tai Chi, Boxing and Kickboxing were acquired during his 20 (+) years of government service. Mr. Singh received his status as a Martial Arts instructor from the World Martial Arts College in 2006. He re-opened Angel’s Gym in 2006, a facility that has a 25-year history of training amateur and professional fighters. At this institution, Mr. Singh fused the 13 movement principles of Tai Chi Chuan with Western Boxing and Kickboxing. In 2007, after a year of work, the gym produced several amateur boxing champions. In 2008, there are 3 promising amateur Kickboxing competitors who will see an opportunity to compete for a championship title.
The book, The Illusive Pugilist, was born out of the need to reinforce the merging philosophies of eastern and western boxing. The illusive movement qualities of the Supreme Ultimate paired with the pugilistic characteristics of the Sweet Science are the catalysts motivating the effort to entertain such a merger. It is a book that applies ancient texts of martial study to the modern warrior’s quest for excellence. Additionally, it is a guide to warriors wishing to be proficient artists in the way of becoming a nigh immovable object in defense and a relentlessly irresistible force in offense. To this author, “… the mind is the greatest weapon and the heart the greatest shield”. This statement is the credo of students who train at Angel’s Gym.
